Conceptual Design

Considering building or renovating a data center? If so, CEC can help you determine the size, cost, power density, reliability, growth strategy, and overall layouts of the facility.

What types of engineering systems and how reliable?

How much will it cost?

How much land or can it fit into an existing building?

Single or multiple floors?

What is the PUE expectation and how much will it cost to operate?

Our focus is to answer the high level questions and provide the information you and your management need to justify and attain the approvals to construct the data center.

Through a series of meetings we conduct the programming and information gathering necessary to develop the concept designs and budget pricing. Working closely with your project team we will meet with and interview the appropriate stakeholders (facility, real estate and IT staff) to understand and incorporate their requirements.

We then present our work to your staff. We can also assist and present to your executives or board of directors as necessary to help explain the project and scope.

  • Basis of Design(BOD) with a project overview, key questions answered, and system descriptions covering reliability considerations, architectural requirements and mechanical, electrical, security, fire protection, fire alarm, and fuel oil systems
  • +/- 15% cost estimate
  • Engineering block diagrams of electrical and critical cooling systems
